President Bola Tinubu has been challenged by Atiku Abubakar, a presidential candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to either promptly rescue the victims of the Oyo abduction or acknowledge failure.
Phrank Shaibu, the former vice president’s spokesman, released a statement in which the former president requested that Tinubu swiftly mobilise all intelligence and security forces to ensure the unconditional release of the victims.
Additionally, he criticised what he saw as the government’s alleged delivery of bags of rice and other relief supplies to victims’ relatives, calling it cruel, morally corrupt, and an obvious admission of defeat.

The kidnapping, according to the ex-vice president, is “yet another tragic reminder” that insecurity has become the new normal under Tinubu’s administration.
