The recent bandit attacks on the Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State have left former governor and senator for Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, distraught.
Tambuwal described the attacks as a painful reminder of the security issues that communities in Sokoto State face in a statement he released on Tuesday, condemning the killings, damage of property, and displacement of families.
To further safeguard vulnerable populations, he urged stricter security measures.
I am utterly devastated by the senseless attacks on the Dangulbi community. “The repeated attacks on innocent citizens are deeply troubling, morally wrong, and a serious threat to the safety and stability of our communities,” he stated.
The senator wished a quick recovery to the wounded and offered condolences to the relatives of the deceased. Victims of the violence, he felt sorry for, were also on his mind.
Praying for the victims’ peace, Tambuwal also demanded the safe return of anyone kidnapped in the attacks.
Communities along the Sokoto-Zamfara axis deserve to live and work without fear, he said, and he pleaded with security forces to do more to make that a reality.
He emphasised that his people should be able to live freely and work without fear.
The former governor emphasised the need of locals staying united and supporting legitimate measures to address insecurity and bring about permanent peace in the impacted areas.
In order to protect people and property in Sokoto State and the nation as a whole, Tambuwal has pledged to back efforts to beef up security.
At least 17 people, including tourists who had come to the area for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, were slain on Sunday in the attacks that took place in Dangulbi hamlet, Tureta Local Government Area, according to reports. People ran to the surrounding woods for refuge after shoplifters ransacked multiple establishments.
Less than 48 hours after the first incident, another one happened, causing further casualties and rekindling worries about the area’s security, according to reports.
